This is my 4th solo original album. The improvisations which make up this album were all recorded live in concert in beautiful baroque Annakirche (the Church of St Anna) in Vienna, Austria in September 2004 whilst I was living in Vienna. The same city where I had lived, studied and played in many orchestras and operas as an orchestral musician many years before. The music on this album evolved from playing for the Sunday morning services at the Church where the priest, whom I had acquainted myself with over many months, liked my music and invited me to play my improvisations in between the sections of his sermons. The tracks here from this dedicated concert of my improvisations were all contemplations of the respective track title. They each set out to capture the feeling of that contemplation. These were all improvisations from my first year improvising concerts in public. They were recorded on a small DAT recorder, all I had at the time. There are no second takes, overdubs or studio corrections. I hope that what the recordings lack in hi-fidelity is made up for by the expansive meditation-like quality of the music.
